Floyd Mayweather's wackiest moments!!!

It may be set to be the biggest-grossing fight of all time, but judging by the history of the pugilists involved, the audience for May 2nd's blockbuster between Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather may be in for just as much excitement outside of the ring. While Pacquiao is clearly no stranger when it comes to eye-catching behaviour - from running to be President of the Philippines to recording his own album - it is undoubtably Mayweather who takes the 'money' in this department. The boxer's recent $33,000 diamond encrusted mouthguard purchase marked another chapter in the book of Mayweather's eccentricites, but fails to make our list of all-time highlights. Advertisement Let's take a look at Floyd's ten wackiest moments...

1. Below the Belt In April 2006, during a match against Zab Judah, Mayweather's opponent threw an illegal punch that was some distance below the belt. The superstar's uncle and trainer Roger Mayweather entered the ring as a result and got into a scuffle with not only Judah but his father and trainer, Yoel, as Floyd looked on. Roger Mayweather was fined $200,000 as a result and suspended for a year, whilst Zab Judah was also scratched out for twelve months.

2. The battle of Cinco De Mayco A year later in May 2007, Mayweather decided it would be a clever idea to intimidate his Mexican opponent Oscar De La Hoya by not only making his way into the ring wearing a sombrero, but by also inviting rapper and Grammy Award Winner 50 Cent to escort him there, making for one heck of an entrance. Mayweather's plan to essentially "get in De La Hoya's head " proved to be a success, with the fight going in favour of the American on a split decision. The fight was named the 2007 Event of the Year by The Ring Magazine.

3. MTV Makes it Rain Drawing back the curtain on his lavish lifestyle, Floyd Mayweather invited the MTV cameras into his Las Vegas home for an episode of MTV Cribs. The show features his state-of-the-art kitchen, complete with 'Viking stove', master bedroom with sitting area, master bathroom with step-up bath tub and 12-person shower. The property also has a pool and hot tub with fountain and water features. His master closet is equipped with aisles to hold his many shoes, jackets and other clothing, however the most astonishing part of the episode is when the boxer shows the world an exceptionally hefty stack of cash that he then uses to "make it rain" in his bedroom.

4. Simply the greatest In the lead up to his match against Ricky Hatton in November 2007, Mayweather claimed that he was better than not only Muhammad Ali, but Sugar Ray Robinson as well. "I respect what Robinson and Ali did for the sport," he said, "but I am the greatest, and this is my time." Mayweather did somewhat back it up by knocking out Hatton in the 10th round.

5. Mo Money Mo Problems In January 2010, two time MTV Video Music Awards winner P Diddy reportedly had to stop Mayweather from getting into a fight with rapper Rick Ross outside of Las Vegas club, the Hard Rock Hotel. The two had exchanged verbal jabs toward one another because of the drama between Ross and Mayweather's friend 50 Cent, but before any physical altercation ensued, Diddy came to the rescue. Diddy reportedly acted as both the mediator and peacemaker, stepping in between the two. Both parties eventually returned to the event with no further incident.

6. Serious change Mayweather went to a Las Vegas sportsbook to put up a $US41,000 ($53,000) bet on the second half of a Chicago Bulls versus Atlanta Hawks NBA basketball game in March 2011. The superstar then decided to let the world know about his extravagant bet on Twitter, uploading a "Twitpic" of his winning receipt of $US37,272.75 ($48,300). This single win led to a few weeks of the undefeated boxer betting upwards of $US500,000 ($647,700) on single sporting events and telling his Twitter followers all about it. Mayweather previously tweeted his $US40,000 ($52,000) bet on the Miami-LA Christmas Day game too, truly living up to his "Money Mayweather" nickname.

7. Floyd's a Belieber Mayweather expressed his sentimental side in May of 2011 when the star made a heartfelt video clip, where he went to pains to explain why he absolutely loved Canadian heartthrob Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" movie.

8. Burning Bills Proving he quite literally has money to burn, the main man set a $US100 bill on fire and held it up in inside an Atlanta nightclub in July 2011. Floyd was partying with music royalty Lil Kim and Gucci Mane at the Velvet Room during the mini-inferno and there were reportedly plenty more bills in on the action as the boxer rolled with stacks of hundreds. Apparently oblivious to the fact that the act is a felony - with a penalty of up to six months behind bars and a fine of $100 - he later came forward saying that he did it simply as a joke to generate publicity.

9. Family Feud During the filming of HBO's reality show, 24/7, which documented Mayweather's training for the Victor Ortiz fight in August 2011, Mayweather almost got into another fist fight on set with his father Floyd Mayweather Sr. - and it just so happens that HBO's cameras caught all the action and featured it on the first instalment of the show. Mayweather and his own father had to be separated by members of Mayweather's entourage in his gym.

10. Merchant vs Mayweather After knocking Victor Ortiz down and getting the 42nd win of his professional career in September 2011, Mayweather threw some shots at HBO's Larry Merchant, who got so riled up by Mayweather's comments that he said, "If I was 50 years younger, I'd kick your ass!" The bizarre back-and-forth between Mayweather and Merchant was easily worth the price of admission. As usual, Mayweather knew how to give people their money's worth.
